When you book your first lesson with us, it’s because you haven’t had any previous training, and that’s perfectly alright. Your instructor understands this and won’t expect you to have any prior knowledge, so there’s no need to worry!
On the contrary, if you were already playing the cello as brilliantly as Yo-Yo Ma, you wouldn’t require this introductory lesson. This class is specifically designed for those who are new to the instrument.
During your first lesson, you won’t be required to play any songs. Instead, your teacher will begin by familiarising you with the cello and teaching you how to use the bow. These fundamental first steps are essential in building your cello-playing foundation.
You might feel uncertain about producing a pleasant tone, but that’s completely expected since you haven’t learned the techniques yet. Rest assured, we will guide you through the process at the right time.
